Update: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘are a source of worry’ for King Charles III, and here’s why they are not welcome back to the UK…. Check In

King Charles III is likely feeling relieved after President Donald Trump announced that he does not intend to deport Prince Harry back to the UK. This decision comes amidst ongoing discussions about Harry’s immigration status, particularly following his admission of past drug use in his memoir, ‘Spare.’ Trump’s comments were made during an interview with the New York Post where he stated, “I don’t want to do that. I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible,” referring to Meghan Markle.
Harry and Meghan’s poor rating
For the past few years, the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, has been advocating for the release of Prince Harry’s visa records to investigate whether he disclosed his previous drug use when applying for his visa. However, a recent report suggests that King Charles may view Trump’s decision not to pursue deportation positively. A royal insider told Daily Mail, “Harry and Meghan are a source of strain and worry for His Majesty.” The source added that while Charles regrets not having a closer relationship with his grandchildren in America, it is beneficial for his peace of mind that there is distance between him and Harry.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams commented on the situation, stating that if Harry were deported, it would bring unwanted attention back to the Sussexes. He told Fox News, “It would put the spotlight back [on] the Sussexes… The publicity would be ceaseless.” Fitzwilliams also pointed out that Harry and Meghan would not be welcomed back in Britain because “their ratings are, apart from the young, extremely bad.”
Experts suggest that King Charles prefers to keep Harry “out of sight and out of mind.” British royal commentator Hillary Fordwich told Fox News, “Charles is and has always been conflict averse… it’s far better that he remains out of sight and out of mind.” She emphasised that Charles is focused on his duties as king and his health, especially following his cancer recovery.
The relationship between Trump and King Charles has been described as surprisingly warm. Trump appears to appreciate the royal family’s influence and has expressed admiration for the king. In light of this connection, Fordwich noted that it would be unwise for Trump to act against Harry without considering its impact on his relationship with the monarchy.
Trump’s decision not to deport Prince Harry may also stem from a desire to maintain good diplomatic relations with the UK. Fitzwilliams revealed, “Trump was never likely to deport Harry, regardless of what he included on his visa application form. He has other priorities and also knows it would make them popular in Hollywood, something they have otherwise failed to achieve. This would have been ironic. Now we know it won’t happen.”
Moreover, Fordwich highlighted that Trump cherishes his ties with the British royals and would not jeopardize this relationship by making an impulsive decision regarding Harry’s immigration status. She explained, “President Trump is no fool; he cherishes his relationship with the British royals and most certainly wouldn’t have spoken out of turn regarding the deportation of Harry.”
