Alexis Ohanian came to wife Serena Williams‘ defense over comments made by commentator Stephen A. Smith following her performance at the Super Bowl Halftime show.“Stephen A., I think you had some marriage advice for me,” Ohanian, 42, said during a Thursday, October 9, appearance on Smith’s ESPN show, First Take.

In February, Smith, 57, called out the 44-year-old retired tennis champ one day after she danced on stage as Kendrick Lamar sang “Not Like Us,” a diss track directed at Williams’ rumored ex, Drake.“If I’m married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his a**. ‘Cause clearly you don’t belong with me,” Smith said at the time. “What you worried about him for and you’re with me? Bye. Bye.”After being confronted by the Reddit founder, Smith tried to brush it off by saying, “I am not qualified. Marriage advice? Oh, no. Not me.”

Ohanian, however, didn’t let him off the hook.“I was gonna ask, ’cause, you hadn’t been married before, right?” he continued. “’Cause I give advice to plenty of founders who want to build billion-dollar companies. And the reason I do that is because I build billion-dollar companies, so I generally try to stay in my lane.”Williams and Ohanian have been married since November 2017.
