Latest Update: How King Charles’ ‘Coldness’ Influenced Prince Harry’s Approach to Parenting…..See More

Prince Harry’s upbringing likely had an impact on how he approaches parenting. As a father of two, Prince Harry reportedly hopes that his relationship with his children is different from the relationship he has with his own father. Recently, a royal insider told RadarOnline.com that Prince Harry doesn’t want either of his children to experience the “coldness” that King Charles directed at him.
Prince Harry wants to be a more ‘affectionate’ father than King Charles is.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are parents to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Per the RadarOnline.com source, Harry is more “playful” and “affectionate” as a parent. The insider said Harry seems determined to “keep the coldness” exhibited by King Charles away from his kids.
Insiders say Harry has a great relationship with his son.
In explaining how Prince Harry clearly doesn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps, royal insiders have pointed to photos of Prince Harry and Prince Archie spending time together. Per Woman’s Day, Harry is “a devoted dad.” An insider told the publication that Harry and Archie have an “incredible” bond with each other.
Archie’s a miniature of his dad and loves nothing more than going on a ‘father-son’ adventure, whether it be surfing, biking or just larking about in the pool,” a source told the publication.
Ahead of his 40th birthday in September 2024, Harry opened up about fatherhood. “Becoming a father of two incredibly kind and funny kids has given me a fresh perspective on life, as well as sharpening my focus in all my work,” he said at the time. “Being a dad is one of life’s greatest joys and has only made me more driven and more committed to making this world a better place.”
Becoming a parent has also helped Prince Harry feel closer to his late mother.
Prince Harry was only 12 years old when his mother, Princess Diana, died tragically in August 1997. In 2022, he spoke about Princess Diana’s legacy. “I see my mum’s legacy when I look at my own children every day,” he said at the time. “Now, as a husband and a parent, my mother’s voice is even stronger in my life.”
In January, a royal expert spoke to The Mirror about King Charles’ relationship with Archie and Lilibet. Jennie Bond told the publication that Charles “hardly knows” Prince Harry’s children. The physical distance and emotional strain between Harry and Charles have likely contributed to this. “It must remain a great sadness to the king to be so distant from his two US-based grandchildren,” Jennie said at the time.
