King Charles sends eyebrow-raising ‘friendship’ message to Canada days after Meghan leaves country…..See More

King Charles and Queen Camilla have shared a message to the people of Canada just days after Meghan Markle departed the country following the Invictus Games
Just a few days after Meghan Markle jetted off from Canada, King Charles has reached out with a “message to the people of Canada”. The former-actress had been soaking up the atmosphere in British Columbia alongside Prince Harry for the seventh Invictus Games, which were scattered across Vancouver and Whistler.
Meghan wrapped up her visit and flew back on Tuesday (February 11), heading home to California, US, to reunite with their two children. Following the former Suits actress’s exit, the royals have hopped onto X to broadcast a touching tribute in honor of the 60th anniversary of the National Flag of Canada.
On this day in 1965, Canada’s red and white maple leaf flag was raised for the very first time on Parliament Hill,” the post, shared on Saturday (February 15) read. The message came with a letter penned in both English and French – paying homage to Canada’s bilingual heritage.
“Today my wife [Queen Camilla] and I [King Charles] join with Canadians across Canada, and around the world, to commemorate an important milestone – the 60th anniversary of the Canadian flag,” Charles wrote. “On February 15, 1965, the red and white maple leaf was first flown on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Since that time, it has become internationally recognized as a symbol of a proud, resilient and compassionate country.
For my own part, it is a symbol that never fails to elicit a sense of pride and admiration, as I recall with the deepest affection my many Canadian visits and friendships.”
Before it was adorned with the iconic red and white maple leaf we all recognize, Canada’s flag bore the moniker of the Canadian Red Ensign. Adorned with a conspicuous red backdrop was the Union Jack perched up on the upper-left, cheek by jowl with the shield from Canada’s coat of arms to its right.
The info lands as a raft of royals from yonder boarded flights to Canada to soak up the dying embers of the Invictus Games. Among these regal visitors were Denmark’s very own Prince Joachim and Princess Marie, who joined ranks with Harry in the land of the maple leaf after his missus had jetted off.
This royal duo was spotted soaking up the atmosphere at a slew of occasions on Friday and Saturday, basking in displays of sporting prowess from injured or ailing military folk from around the globe. They rubbed shoulders with other notable figures, like Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, songbird Nelly Furtado and Michael Buble belting out tunes in the stands.
These Games are poised to wrap up this weekend, bustling towards a crescendo with today’s closing ceremony (Sunday, February 16). Reminiscing about the choice for Canada as the venue again, Harry let slip earlier: “There’s a reason the Invictus Games have come back to Canada, because you guys have snow!
“It is one of the most incredible things. I am so grateful is the entire organizing committee and the government-every single level, here in Canada, for making this, we couldn’t have done this without support right from the get-go.
And for those of you that don’t know, it is a logistical nightmare to be able to pull this together and the team have done it and we’ve now got one year to work all together and to give people incredible – in some instances, life-changing – experience to these competitors and their families
