King Charles has always been known for his healthy diet of organic, in-season produce but his eating regime has changed somewhat as he continues his cancer treatment.
King Charles has long prioritised his health, favouring simple, organic, and seasonal produce over rich meat dishes.
As he undergoes cancer treatment, he has made further adjustments to his diet, according to Tom Parker Bowles, Queen Camilla’s son, OK! reports.
Tom revealed that the King has added avocados to his diet and cut out red meat, saying, “I’m no nutritionist, but I know that food is part of a body’s ‘medicine’. It knows when it’s having the right stuff.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond noted that the King is doing everything possible to air his recovery, stating: “I don’t think it will be much of a sacrifice for Charles to cut out red meat
He has always been very conscious about his diet – very rarely eating lunch. And for many years he has deliberately avoided meat and fish on two days a week.”
She added: “He has also reduced his intake of dairy products in recent years. Some of this is for environmental reasons, but now there is a medical incentive to cut out red meat altogether.”
Jennie believes the King will miss his organic roast lamb but is focused on his recovery and will follow his doctors’ advice to overcome or manage his cancer. Former royal staff have given intriguing insights into King Charles’s breakfast routine.
Before Queen Elizabeth II passed away, royal chef Graham Newbould shared details of the King’s preference for a healthier start to his day: “Charles has a healthier option. He’d have homemade bread, a bowl of fresh fruit, fresh fruit juices.
“Wherever he goes in the world, the breakfast box goes with him. He has six different types of honey, some special mueslis, his dried fruit and anything that’s a bit special that he is a bit fussy about.”
Another ex-royal chef, Darren McGrady, who served the family for over 15 years, disclosed how King Charles ensures his pantry is always filled with his personal produce. McGrady recounted a particular breakfast habit: “The instruction was to put two plums and a little juice into the bowl and send it into him for breakfast.”
He added: “I’d send in two plums and he would take one so it would come back out after breakfast and I’d put the other plum back into the jar and save it. One morning I thought, ‘OK, he only eats one for breakfast,’ so I only put one plum into the bowl and sent it out into the dining room.
