The release of the royal Christmas cards has sparked commentary, with Kate Middleton’s card standing in contrast to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s. In comparison, Meghan and Harry’s card, which includes multiple images and lacks the word “Christmas,” has been criticized for its American spin.
The release of the annual royal Christmas cards has sparked a wave of comparisons and commentary, with royal experts highlighting notable differences between the Sussexes’ and the Waleses’ holiday greetings. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry unveiled their 2024 Holiday Card on December 16, featuring six candid snapshots from their philanthropic tours and family moments.
Among these was a heartwarming photograph of their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, joyfully running into their parents’ arms.
Meanwhile, on December 19, Prince William and Princess Kate shared their Christmas card, which featured a deeply personal family portrait. The photograph was taken from a poignant video where Kate revealed she had completed her chemotherapy and was recovering well.
A Tale of Two Christmas Cards
The Mail columnist Amanda Platell offered insights into the contrasting styles of the two families. She remarked, “What a contrast with the one image the Princess of Wales released for the Wales’s card, a snap taken from the poignant video she made earlier this year with her family in Norfolk when she revealed she had completed her chemotherapy and was ‘doing well.'”
Platell noted that Kate’s choice of a single, heartfelt image depicted a sense of authenticity and unity, emphasizing the Waleses’ close-knit family dynamic. In contrast, she observed that Harry and Meghan’s multi-image card had a different tone, one that some critics interpreted as less traditional.
