King Charles did not invite them to spend Christmas with the Royals
Last year, King Charles III made a decision that sparked widespread criticism and raised questions about his relationship with his son, Prince Harry, and his daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle. For the first time, King Charles did not invite Harry, Meghan, or their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to spend the royal Christmas holiday with the royal family in England.
This decision was met with strong reactions, with many questioning how the King could exclude his two young grandchildren, especially during a season traditionally centered around family and togetherness.
Critics were quick to point out that King Charles made no mention of Harry, Meghan, or their children in his annual Christmas speech. The King’s message focused on themes of family unity, but failed to address his own family’s absence, which only deepened the controversy.
The Christmas addresss
In his Christmas speech, King Charles did speak about the importance of family, referring to the holiday as “a chance for family and friends to come together.”
However, many were quick to note that there was no direct reference to Prince Harry, Meghan, or their children, despite their prominence in the media. The closest Charles came to acknowledging them was a vague reference to protecting the planet “for the sake of our children’s children,” but this was not a personal message to his own grandchildren.
This omission raised questions about the ongoing tensions between the Royal Family and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Many royal watchers felt that this snub was a direct reflection of the strained relationship between the family and the couple, especially after Harry and Meghan’s decision to step back from royal duties and relocate to California.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, on the other hand, seem to have firmly committed to their new life in California.
In the wake of their exclusion from the Christmas festivities, the couple has made it clear that they have no intention of returning to the Royal Family’s fold anytime soon.
