Meghan Markle’s team allegedly ‘shopped’ around book about ‘post-divorce’ from Prince Harry. Here’s what we know…
An exposé by Vanity Fair alleged that Meghan Markle’s team had proposed a book about life post-divorce from Prince Harry, it has also been alleged that her team had also had a conversation with a publishing house to “gauge interest” in the idea for the book.
Employees who work for Meghan Markle allegedly had a conversation with an unnamed publishing house to see if there was interest in a book about “post-divorce” from Prince Harry, according to an exposé by Vanity Fair.
The source clarified that the book was intended to be centred around the aftermath of a split from Prince Harry and not Meghan’s first husband – Trevor Engelson. Meghan and Engelson divorced in 2014. The former Suits star met Prince Harry in 2016.
The source also stated that the meeting about the book did not mean that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would actually divorce. However, the intention was to see if the published would be interested should there actually be a divorce.
“If that’s true to any degree, [Markle] would have been approached and not vice versa,” said the source according to Vanity Fair.
The publisher reportedly never made an offer and no manuscript had been produced. This was because there was no divorce to actually write about.
The exposé dived into Prince Harry and Meghan’s struggling business ventures, alluding to a desperate couple trying to find purpose and maintain purposed post-royal life. However, there was more than rumours of a divorce swirling in the exposé.
Another source claimed that they were “undergoing long-term therapy after working with Meghan.” While there was another, who described the Duchess as, “while another described her as “Mean Girls’ teenager.
Prince Harry and Meghan quit their roles as senior working members of the royal family in 2020. The pair then moved to California to start a new life. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have two children together – Prince Archie (5) and Princess Lilibet (3).
In December 2024, Prince Harry put rumours of a divorce between him and Meghan to rest. This was when he was speaking to NYT columnist and DealBook founder Andrew Ross Sorkin, during The New York Times’ 2024 DealBook Summit in New York City.
Prince Harry spoke about the rumours surrounding him and his wife moving and buying a vacation home. He explained that he chooses to just ignore the rumours.
“It’s hard to keep up with, but that’s why you just sort of ignore it. The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls. Their hopes are just built and built, and it’s like, ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,’ and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do,” he said, according to New York Post.
