The timing of the release of Meghan Markle’s fancy cooking show on Netflix has been criticised by an expert given times of economic hardship.
It comes as Meghan’s Netflix show ‘With Love, Meghan’ is set to be released on January 15, focusing on culinary delights with her celebrity friends.
Royal expert and author, Hugo Vickers, told The Sun: “The sort of food that she’s [Meghan Markle] producing is not going to appeal to a lot of people who can’t afford to buy that sort of thing.”
He added: “A lot of people are suffering, this is a time of hardship, generally. I don’t really quite know what we’re going to make of a star in a white dress, not even wearing an apron, putting together all this.. stuff!”
The show has also been slammed by royal historian Dr Tessa Dunlop who said it will not resonate well with the public.
She told the Mirror: “I mean, come on, a reality series in which one of the richest women in the world is pretending she can teach us ‘little tips and tricks’.
Demonstrating how ‘we can incorporate these practices’ into our domestic lives, as she meanders through her sun-dappled kitchen garden, retro basket in hand, before attending those designer bee hives, dripping with honey. It’s so out-of-reach for the vast majority, it is laughable.”
Fans of the Duchess of Sussex however, have praised the released teaser of the show on social media and cannot wait to watch it on the streaming platform.
One wrote: “Meghan’s personality just sparkles through. This will be a great opportunity for people to get to know her directly!”
Another added: “OMG, I love this already!”
A third referred to Meghan’s previous lifestyle blog: “This reminds me of her authenticity on her TIG blog. I loved her then, and love her now. I hope she succeeds beyond her wildest dreams.”
