Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been branded the “most entitled, disingenuous people on the planet” by locals in Montecito, California, who accused the couple of turning the area into a tourist hotspot
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing another hurdle as a new damning report allegedly reveals more about their life in California. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been labeled as “the most entitled, disingenuous people on the planet” by locals in Montecito.
They blame the couple for turning their area into a tourist attraction and causing property prices to soar. Vanity Fair recently released an explosive report quoting residents who criticized the Sussexes for disrupting the area’s “quiet” and “neighborliness” and “bringing more attention” to the locale, according to Daily Express UK.
One resident of Montecito reportedly claimed that the prince and “the scarlet,” referring to Meghan, have “become local villains.”
They are accused of transforming their once peaceful neighborhood into a hub for fast cars and tourists. This upscale suburb in California has been home to numerous Hollywood celebrities, including Natalie Portman, Jeff Bridges, John Carradine, Kirk and Michael Douglas, Jonathan Winters, Gwyneth Paltrow, Adam Levine, Jimmy Connors, T. C. Boyle, Leonardo DiCaprio, Neil Young and Daryl Hannah, Michael Keaton, and Oprah Winfrey, reports the Express US.
One resident of Montecito stated: “They moved away from England to escape the scrutiny of the press, and all they do is try and get in the press in the United States.”
The resident added: “I still think they’re the most entitled, disingenuous people on the planet.”
In the latest drama to grip Montecito, local gossip is at an all-time high with residents pointing fingers at high-profile newbies like Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and Ellen DeGeneres for driving up home prices and instigating a parking frenzy near scenic trails. The Duchess of Sussex has whipped up further controversy by naming her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard, with one community member accusing her of shamelessly trying to “monetize” the town’s charm, saying: “It’s such a kind of hucksterism. It’s just finding every way she can to monetize something.”
Meanwhile, amid the gossip, Oscar winner Sharon Stone’s previous 2020 interview with Access Hollywood praising the Sussexes has resurfaced. Stone touted Meghan and Harry as stellar neighbors, insisting they strive to make meaningful contributions, rather than capitalizing on their Royal status.
Her resurfaced praise comes on the heels of the couple’s active participation during the dreadfully destructive fires near LA as well as donating to wildfire relief efforts.
“You know, the thing about them that is so great is they didn’t come here to live off of our community, they came here to be a part of our community,” the actress said
