Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s SNL 50 appearance could play a role in Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit.

Justin Baldoni’s legal team might reference Ryan Reynolds’ joke from the “SNL 50” special about their respective lawsuits as part of the director’s defense, an insider told Page Six.

On Sunday, Reynolds, 48, and his wife, Blake Lively, 37, made their first red carpet appearance since the “It Ends With Us” legal controversy—lightheartedly addressing it during a brief moment on the show.

When asked how he was doing during the live broadcast, the “Deadpool” actor responded, “Great! Why, what have you heard?”

While the studio audience laughed, many viewers felt that allegations involving sexual harassment, extortion, and defamation weren’t matters to joke about—an opinion seemingly shared by Baldoni’s legal advisors.

It’s very plausible that Justin’s legal team will use this public outing to defend him,” the insider tells Page Six.

“Justin is taking this lawsuit in all seriousness and isn’t making a public mockery out of it,” they add.

Although it remains unclear how Reynolds’ legal team plans to address the “SNL” appearance, both sides had previously been advised against making public statements that could sway a potential jury.

According to a source, it wasn’t just Baldoni’s supporters who took issue with Reynolds’ offhand remark.

“People in Hollywood think Blake and Ryan attending the ‘SNL’ 50th anniversary show was not a good look,” our insider shares.

“They think they should have sat this one out.”

Despite differing opinions, a second source told Page Six that Reynolds and Lively “have no regrets about making an appearance at the show” and “were two of the last people to leave Studio 8H.”

“They’re glad they showed up because they have nothing to hide and no reason not to.”
