Exclusive: Why King Charles III had reportedly given THIS nickname to Meghan Markle….Read More

King Charles III allegedly gave Meghan Markle a unique name when she was still a working royal. In recognition of the Duchess of Sussex’s strength, he called her ‘Tungsten,’ a name that epitomises her strong and unyielding character. This nickname highlights Meghan’s ability to withstand challenges and pressures, particularly in the public eye.
The royal family is known for using private nicknames, and Charles believed Meghan deserved one after marrying Prince Harry. Interestingly, Meghan was born with the name Rachel but chose to go by her middle name, Meghan.
King Charles III’s admiration for Meghan Markle
A source from the palace shared with Mail On Sunday’s Charlotte Griffiths in June 2018, “Prince Charles admires Meghan for her strength and the backbone she gives Harry, who needs a tungsten-type figure in his life as he can be a bit of a softy. It’s become a term of endearment”. This shows that King Charles III respects Meghan’s impact on Harry, suggesting that her strength balances his more gentle personality.
In her 2022 book, ‘The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown’, author Katie Nicholl elaborated on this nickname. She noted that Charles viewed Meghan as “resilient” and praised her qualities, describing her as “polished, passionate, and funny,” while also calling her a “breakout star”. Mirror reports indicate that Charles had even expressed admiration for Meghan to his friends, stating, “She is so intelligent and so nice. She makes Harry happy. We could not like her more”.
Despite this affectionate nickname and praise, there are questions about whether Charles still views Meghan in this light following her stepping down from royal duties in 2020. As tensions between Meghan and the royal family have surfaced over time, it remains uncertain if the nickname still holds the same meaning today.
In recent developments, a royal expert recently stated that King Charles III hopes Meghan Markle’s new cooking show on Netflix will do well so that she and Prince Harry can “remain self-sufficient.” Royal broadcaster Helena Chard said, “He hopes that Harry and Meghan remain self-sufficient, financially afloat, and do not come knocking at his door.” Meghan’s show, ‘With Love, Meghan’, has been pushed back to launch owing to the wildfires in California. This show was originally scheduled to appear early, but it is now expected to air on March 4, 2025.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield reflected Chard’s words in saying that Charles, in all likelihood, wants Harry and Meghan to find their purpose and success in careers. She further added, “I do know that the King is eager for Harry and Meghan to find purpose and professional success,” this adds to the idea that they can let go of the bitterness they likely feel towards him.
