Donald Trump shared “warm and fond memories” about the late Queen Elizabeth II during a meeting with Prince William in Paris.
The President-elect met the Prince of Wales in the French capital following the reopening of the Notre Dame cathedral, after its restoration from a fire in 2019.
Mr Trump and the future King are said to have discussed numerous issues, with a specific focus on Anglo-American relations.
Both Prince William and the 45th US President were sat in the front row as President Macron reopened the iconic religious site.
A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: “This evening, The Prince of Wales held a meeting with President Trump at the UK Ambassador’s Residence in Paris.
“The warm, friendly meeting lasted around 40 minutes. The pair discussed a range of global issues but focussed on the importance of the UK/US special relationship.
“President Trump also shared some warm and fond memories with The Prince about the Late Queen for which HRH was extremely grateful.”
Heaping praise on the reopening service, Mr Trump said “it was a beautiful ceremony”.
Before the meeting started, William said that “we can warm our toes up after the cathedral” and Mr Trump smiled and responded “right, you’re right”.
The two paused in front of the cameras for a few seconds before Mr Trump said: “Thank you very much everyone.”
