Prince Harry recently looked back on a memorable experience with Meghan Markle during the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney, Australia.
At the time, Meghan was expecting their first child, Prince Archie, making the event even more meaningful for the couple.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Harry spoke about the lasting impact of the Invictus Games, an event he founded in 2014 to honor wounded, injured, and sick military service members and veterans.
He also highlighted Meghan’s connection to the community, sharing that she has been involved since shortly after the 2016 Orlando Games.
A light-hearted yet meaningful memory
Among his many treasured memories, one particular moment from Sydney stood out.
“I’ll never forget the bear hug I received from Rob out on Sydney Harbor-and my genuine concern that he might try the same with my wife, who was pregnant at the time!” Harry recalled with amusement.
Meghan, who married Harry in May 2018, gave birth to Archie in May 2019, followed by their daughter, Princess Lilibet, in June 2021. Despite their growing family, the Duchess has remained a dedicated supporter of the Invictus Games, attending the event alongside Harry each year.
Most recently, the couple attended the Invictus Games in Vancouver, Canada. Meghan shared glimpses of their experience on her newly reactivated Instagram account, including a sweet video of the pair walking hand-in-hand through the snow. She also gave fans a peek at Harry’s dance moves as they kicked off the opening day of the event.
A source told Page Six that Meghan left the Games early to return home to their children, while Harry stayed to continue supporting the competitors.
For the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the Invictus Games remain an event close to their hearts-one that not only celebrates the strength of military veterans but also holds special personal memories for their family.
