Rivalry between the two couples is showing no signs of calming down

Jason Knauf, former press secretary and CEO of the Royal Foundation, recently shared a revealing insight into the lives of Prince William and Kate Middleton during an interview with 60 Minutes Australia.

He discussed how the couple, despite being at the center of global attention, has no interest in the fame and celebrity that come with their royal status.

According to Knauf, both the Prince and Princess of Wales would prefer to remain private individuals and would not have chosen the life of public figures if given the option.

“Neither the prince nor the princess would choose to be public figures. They’re not interested in the fame and celebrity that comes with it,” Knauf explained.

His remarks underscore the couple’s focus on their royal duties rather than seeking out the limelight.

Embracing authenticity over image

Despite their immense popularity, the Waleses have consistently shown little desire to manage or control their public image.

When asked about their positive public perception, Knauf pointed out that William and Kate do not attempt to manipulate their image via social media.

You just can’t control the image of anyone in today’s media world,” Knauf said. “All you can do is help people be themselves.”

“With both of these people, what you see is what you really get behind the scenes as well.”

The conversation also turned to Knauf’s own controversial past. In 2018, Knauf accused Meghan Markle of bullying two personal assistants, a claim that later became public and fueled media scrutiny of the Duchess of Sussex.

Reflecting on the public backlash that followed, Knauf acknowledged the challenges of dealing with such scrutiny but maintained that it was part of the job.

“I think it’s tough, but it’s probably quite good,” he admitted. “You can’t choose just to take the fun stuff in any job.”
