Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were given the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex by the late Queen Elizabeth II at the time of their 2018 wedding.

An expert has weighed in, stating that King Charles wouldn’t strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their royal titles, and there’s a significant reason behind it. The couple, married in 2018, received their titles from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during their wedding ceremony.

Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, have since set up shop in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. They bowed out from their top-tier Royal gig in early 2020.

Reflecting on Meghan’s revelation in her new Netflix film that she uses the ‘Sussex’ moniker for family matters, Phil Dampier, a seasoned Royal commentator, weighed in to the Sun: “I’ve always felt he’s reluctant to start any process of stripping her and Harry of their titles.”

Delving into why His Highness might be hesitant to drop the guillotine on their titles, he reckons it’s all about keeping a great relationship with his youngest son down the line.

He also spilled that Meghan’s series, With Love, Meghan, isn’t likely to bridge the rift currently splitting the Royal Family and the Sussexes

He opined: “The show won’t do anything to help mend the rift between them as it’s mainly just drivel about re-arranging fruit and lighting candles. But any family reconciliation will take a lot longer and a real changing of attitudes on all sides.”

On her feelings towards her Sussex title, Meghan confided to PEOPLE that it’s a moniker she cherishes and shared with Harry and their kids.

She told the magazine: “I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me.”
