President Donald Trump has spoken at a press conference after the tragic Washington D.C. crash – pointing the finger of blame at the control tower.

President Donald Trump has spoken for the first time since the tragic Washington DC crash – slamming Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

A commercial jet and a Black Hawk helicopter collided midair Wednesday evening and crashed into the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport by the capital.

Authorities fear that there are no survivors out of the 64 on the jet and three soldiers in the helicopter, making the Wednesday evening crash among the deadliest aviation incidents since 9/11.

We must have only the highest standards for those who work in our aviation system,” Trump said. “I changed the Obama standards from very mediocre at best to extraordinary.”

He continued, “You remember that. Only the highest aptitude. They have to be the highest intellect and psychologically superior people allowed to qualify for air traffic controllers. That was not so prior to getting there.”

When I arrived in 2016, I made that change very early on, because I always felt this was a job that, and other jobs too, but this was a job that had to be of superior intelligence, and we didn’t really have that. And we had it.

“And then when I left office and Biden took over, he changed them back to lower than ever before,” he said. “Their policy was horrible and their politics was even worse.

We have to have our smartest people. It doesn’t matter what they look like, how they speak,” he said, referring to his rollback on DEI hiring. “They have to be naturally talented geniuses. You can’t have regular people doing that job. They can’t do it.”

He later added, “The FAA, which was overseen by Secretary Pete Buttigieg, a real winner. He is a disaster, he was a disaster as a mayor and ran his city into the ground. He has got a good line of bull—-!”

He also issued his condolences and confirmed an investigation is underway.

“The work has now shifted to a recovery mission. Sadly, there are no survivors. This was a dark and excruciating night in this nation’s capital,” Trump said. “We are in mourning. This has really shaken a lot of people.

“We don’t know what led to this crash, but we have some very strong opinions. Usually they say there will be an investigation that happens three years later,” he continued. “We have some pretty good ideas.

“We will find out how this disaster occurred and make sure nothing like this ever happens again.”

This comes after Trump said the situation “should have been prevented” on Truth Social on Wednesday night.

He wrote, “The airplane was on a perfect and routine line of approach to the airport. The helicopter was going straight at the airplane for an extended period of time.

“It is a CLEAR NIGHT, the lights on the plane were blazing, why didn’t the helicopter go up or down, or turn. Why didn’t the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the plane.

This is a bad situation that looks like it should have been prevented. NOT GOOD!!!”

Later on, he added, “What a terrible night this has been. God bless you all!”

President Trump made major changes to the aviation system last week ahead of the crash, firing the heads of the Transportation Security Administration and Coast Guard, slashing a key aviation security advisory group, freezing hiring for air traffic controllers and pausing new aviation regulations.

Former FAA Director Michael Whitaker also resigned the day Trump was inaugurated under pressure from Elon Musk. He had only served in the role for a year and accused the SpaceX CEO of “harassment.”
