Royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle never fail to make it to the headlines. The UK royal couple are parents to two children: son Archie who was born in 2019, and daughter Lilibet who was born in 2021. Regardless of Harry and Meghan’s strained relationship with the UK royal family, it is well-known that they named their daughter Lilibet after Queen Elizabeth II. How? Well, Lilibet was Queen Elizabeth II’s childhood nickname which was only used by people close to her. The moniker was given to Princess Elizabeth, when she was a toddler, as was not able to pronounce her own name.

However, it seems that now it isn’t just Harry and Meghan who have named their daughter after the late Queen Elizabeth II. News is that Harry’s cousin Princess Beatrice gave birth to a baby girl on January 22, 2025. And as a mark of tribute to her late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have also named their daughter after her!

On January 29, Buckingham Palace shared the arrival of Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s second daughter. Posting a picture of their newly born daughter, the Instagram post read, “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57 pm, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London. The baby was born weighing 4 pounds and 5 ounces.” It further stated that the King, Queen, and other members of the royal family had been informed and they were happy by the news.

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s daughter is named Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, and she is said to be named after Princess Beatice’s late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II.

For the unversed, Princess Beatrice is the daughter of King Charles III’s brother- Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. And even though Beatrice is a private citizen, after marriage she has retained her HRH title.
