Breaking News: Villain’ Donald Trump mocked by Doctor Who star David Tennant at BAFTA Awards 2025…..Read More

Doctor Who star David Tennant returned to host the BAFTA Film Awards for the second consecutive year, and he was quick to mock Donald Trump during his opening monologue
David Tennant, the charismatic host of the BAFTA Film Awards 2025, didn’t hesitate to target US President Donald Trump in his opening monologue on Sunday evening (16th February).
Returning for his second year as host, Tennant made a grand entrance to the tune of The Proclaimers’ “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles),” joking that he “walked 500 miles just to host one BAFTAs more”, he boldly tackled hot-button topics right from the start.
Amidst the buzz following Trump’s contentious re-election in November 2024, Tennant took aim at the president before an audience of Hollywood’s elite and British stars.
He humorously linked Trump to “The Brutalist,” calling it “a film about incredible architecture. In fact, it’s the boldest architecture in film this year, apart from Donald Trump’s hair in The Apprentice.”
Tennant also poked fun at the biopic featuring Sebastian Stan as Trump, doubting the president had seen it because “It’s a 15 and it’s not on Nickelodeon,” eliciting laughter from the attendees, Deadline reported.
He quipped about the risk of mentioning Trump too often: “Donald Trump… I’m worried. I’ve said his name three times. It’s like Beetlejuice – I’ve summoned him.”
Then, smoothly transitioning, he added, “Talking of villains”, pausing as the laughter grew. “We’ve got many this year, not just Nosferatu.”
Tennant, who captivated audiences with his leading performance in last year’s Disney+ hit Rivals, made headlines once again with a sharp quip.
