Donald Trump handled a mic hitting him in the face with humor during a press gaggle, following his speech at the DOJ.
Donald Trump experienced an unexpected moment during a press gaggle at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, when a reporter’s boom microphone struck him in the face. The incident occurred as Trump was addressing the media after delivering a speech at the Department of Justice, where he criticized the press.
As Trump answered questions regarding the Middle East, a boom mic, which is used for capturing sound while reporters are on the move, hit him in the face.
The former president briefly closed his eyes and leaned away from the microphone to avoid further contact. However, he quickly regained his composure, laughing off the situation and saying, “She just made television tonight. She just became a big story tonight.” Trump then jokingly asked, “Did you see that?” and the microphone was moved further away from him.
Supporters praised Trump’s calm and professional reaction to the awkward moment, with some remarking on how gracefully he handled it. Others, however, raised concerns about how the microphone was allowed to get so close to the president. Trump supporter Charlie Kirk suggested that respect should have been shown, while Laura Loomer questioned the adequacy of security at the event.
The incident followed Trump’s speech at the Department of Justice, where he voiced strong criticism of media bias and accused outlets like CNN and MSNBC of being political arms of the Democratic Party. Trump also discussed the “weaponization” of government investigations against him and emphasized his belief that some media actions could be illegal.
The event at the DOJ was attended by hundreds of Trump supporters, including law enforcement officials and families affected by the fentanyl epidemic, as well as members of Congress.
