President Donald Trump has stated that Palestinians will not have the right to return under his new proposal for US “ownership” of Gaza. The president announced his plans last week during a state visit from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The “leaders” debated the proposal for the US to seize control of Gaza and transform it into “the Riviera of the Middle East.” At the same time, Trump faced questions regarding the status of the Palestinian people in this new plan.

When pressed on where the Palestinian people fit into his wild idea, Trump responded negatively.

In an interview with FOX News’ Bret Baier set to air today, Trump was asked if Palestinians in Gaza would have a right to return to the territory, and he answered: “No, they wouldn’t.”

He elaborated, saying: “We’ll build safe communities, a little bit away from where they are, where all of this danger is. In the meantime, I would own this. Think of it as a real estate development for the future. It would be a beautiful piece of land. No big money spent.”

While members of his administration previously suggested Trump intended to only temporarily relocate Gaza residents, Trump specified: “In other words, I’m talking about building a permanent place for them because if they have to return now, it’ll be years before you could ever – it’s not habitable.”
