Breaking News: The View bumps Queer Eye cast after cohosts’ Hot Topics discussion runs too long (exclusive)….See More

EW has learned that an episode of the show featuring an interview with Ariana DeBose ran over the allotted time.
The View’s latest episode didn’t have quite enough time to squeeze in the Fab Five, as Entertainment Weekly has learned through several sources that a planned live interview with the cast of Netflix’s Queer Eye was spiked at the last minute and rescheduled after the cohosts’ Hot Topics discussion ran too long
As originally announced — including in a social media post The View shared roughly 90 minutes before Thursday’s live show began — Queer Eye stars Jonathan Van Ness, Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Karamo Brown, and Jeremiah Brent were slated to join the cohosts for an interview. However, when the episode (also featuring an interview with Oscar-winning actress Ariana DeBose) ran over time, the show decided to pre-tape the interview after the broadcast in order to air it on Monday’s edition.
Two sources tell EW that Thursday’s Hot Topics segment — and not the DeBose interview — ran over time, while another says that the decision was made to avoid rushing the Fab Five through an interview.
EW has reached out to representatives for The View, Netflix, and the Queer Eye cast for comment.
After undergoing a casting shakeup involving the tumultuous exit of interior designer Bobby Berk, Queer Eye launched its ninth season — set in Las Vegas — in December.
In an interview with EW, Brent revealed that he was excited to join the cast and become a part of the emotional makeover show’s growing legacy.
With the show, there’s a lot of loyalty that comes with that,” Brent previously told EW. “I’m somebody that’s really good at earning respect, and that’s how I’ve navigated the entire thing. People don’t know me. People are used to their friend group the way it was, but I’m happy to earn people’s respect and I’m happy for them to get to know me and for me to get to know them.”
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC.
