Breaking News: SZA Reveals Kendrick Lamar’s Pre-Tour Advice and Teases a Taylor Swift Collab: ‘She Was Open to It…..Read More

The R&B star called the Super Bowl halftime show with Kendrick Lamar “the best 30 seconds of my life”
SZA is gearing up for a massive tour — but not without some good advice
During her Friday, March 21 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the “Kill Bill” singer spoke about her upcoming tour with Kendrick Lamar — and also teased what a collaboration between her and Taylor Swift could look like.
Jennifer Hudson asked SZA, 35, who joined Lamar, 37, onstage for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show what her experience was like and how she prepared.
“Well, it was the best 30 seconds of my life,” she began.
SZA said that the show had “changed a couple times” as far as the song selection went. She sang “Luther” and “All the Stars” with him onstage at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
“It ended up being the perfect amount of time for me to face a fear, try something brand new, get my feet wet in a space that I pray to be allowed to grace again.”
“I’m just grateful,” the “Scorsese Baby Daddy” singer continued. “God gives you a little bit and shows you what’s possible.”
She also spoke about the advice she got from Lamar ahead of their Grand National Tour together, noting that she learns best by observing. “I get to pick different tips and watch how he carries himself, how he emotes,” she said.
“There’s something you can’t explain when there’s magic happening and to watch him perform is to witness something magical.”
One time he gave me the pointer of pretending to watch myself from above. He sees himself while he’s performing, and it actually changed a lot for me,” SZA continued.
“It was weird, when I was watching myself from afar, I was like, ‘This not what I want to see, I want to see something different. I want to turn up.’ Then I just started, like, invoking a completely different energy and spirit within myself.”
He’s also a Gemini, so you never know,” she quipped about Lamar’s star sign.
Lamar and SZA are going to embark on their Grand National Tour on April 19 in Minneapolis. The duo will make stops in Philadelphia, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, Detroit and Toronto before wrapping up in Washington D.C. in June.
Hudson also asked SZA about her and Swift, 35, spending time together at the Grammys, wondering if they exchange advice or inspire one another.
“Every time she walks up to me or approaches me, I’m just like, ‘All right, this is happening, because that’s fully Taylor Swift,’ ” she said of the “Cruel Summer” singer.
“I think I mentioned that I would love to write with her and build some things together,” SZA added. “I love her storytelling. She was open to it.”
She concluded: “She’s awesome. She’s so bossed up.”
