Breaking News: Princess Diana Set The Parenting Example That Prince William and Kate Follow To This Day….See More
British royal family news reveals that sometimes being an outsider is an advantage. That may have been the case for Princes William and Harry, whose late mother Diana took it upon herself to teach them how life outside the royal bubble works.
William enjoys huge popularity as he prepares to be the next king, and Harry, well, Harry may yet find his way. One royal expert is spilling the tea on how Diana raised her boys and we have the inside scoop here.
Diana Raised Harry And William With Perspective
Royal pundit Jennie Bond wrote for The I Paper that the Diana made sure to introduce as much normality as possible into her kids’ lives.
She said that Diana told her “that she wanted her two boys to be brought up in a way no other royal Princes had been. And she did her best to give them an idea of what life beyond the Palace walls is like.”
Diana’s break with orthodoxy included taking William and Harry to Walt Disney World, the beach, and skiing. She also had William attend preschool away from Buckingham Palace.

Bond says that William and his wife Princess Catherine have followed suit with Diana’s methods: “They can’t change the fact that their children have been born into an extraordinary destiny and they’ve introduced them gently to some of the pomp and pageantry, but they’ve also given them a taste of a more ordinary existence—moving out of Kensington Palace to a relatively modest house with no live-in staff.”
This summer William treated his two oldest kids, Princess Charlotte and Prince George to a Taylor Swift concert where they exchanged friendship bracelets. Kate stayed home with their youngest child Prince Louis as she was still undergoing preventative chemotherapy treatment.
William and George have also been photographed at many sporting events, and this summer Kate took Charlotte to the men’s Wimbledon finals where she handed out the winner’s trophy.
Additionally, both Kate and William have done the school run, and Bond noted that they chose the kids’ school “specifically because of its ethos that courtesy, kindness and empathy are fundamental values in life.”
She added “This is in line with their modern parenting methods: encouraging the children to express their feelings and voice their fears.”
