Breaking News: Prince William Makes ‘Shocked’ Statement About Former Nanny’s Stepson Killed in Terror Attack…. Check In
Prince William is sending his condolences to his former nanny, who lost her stepson in the recent terror attack in New Orleans.
The Prince of Wales released a statement on social media after the Metropolitan Police confirmed that UK native Ed Pettiffer, the 31-year-old stepson of William and Prince Harry’s former nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke, was among those killed in the deadly attack in Louisiana on Jan. 1.
Legge-Bourke worked as a nanny for William and Harry for several years between 1993 and 1999, starting shortly after King Charles and Princess Diana separated. According to PEOPLE, William, 42, and Harry, 40, remained “close” with Legge-Bourke over the years, as they both attended her wedding and she attended each of theirs. She is also a godmother to Harry and Meghan Markle’s firstborn child, Prince Archie, 5.
In a statement shared to his social media pages on Saturday, Jan. 4, William wrote, on behalf of himself and his wife Kate Middleton, “Catherine and I have been shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Ed Pettifer.”
“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Pettifer family and all those innocent people who have been tragically impacted by this horrific attack,” the future king added.
