Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center as he awaits trial, with a photo showing what appears to be maggot-infested food.
The prison where Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is being held has been hit with allegations of serving maggot-infested food to inmates.
The 55-year-old rapper is currently awaiting federal trial at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
He was arrested in New York in September on charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs has denied all allegations and pleaded not guilty in court.
A recent photo believed to be taken inside the MDC shows a meal of potatoes and beans crawling with what appear to be small white maggots.
The photo was taken last Sunday, with lawyers for the inmates suggesting it provides evidence of a “serious sanitation issue that threatens the health of our clients.”
Deirdre von Dornum of the Federal Defenders told Daily News, who obtained the photo, “MDC assured us almost a year ago that it had thrown out all the infested food, including beans.
“This photo, taken on Sunday of a President’s Day weekend, shows there is once again a serious sanitation issue that threatens the health of our clients.”
Defense lawyer Sabrina Shroff also alleged that the infested food is a regular occurrence.
She claimed, “Our clients are forced to eat on the margins – the white bread, the rice, food you can check to avoid bugs and vermin.”
Shroff further alleged that inmates often “hoard bread, as the potatoes are made with powder and over-watered.”
She then criticized the prison and said the humane standard inside is a “pipe dream
