Breaking News: Kate Middleton Reveals Secret Prince Louis Was ‘Bursting’ to Tell Princess Charlotte at Carol Service…..Read More
The Princess of Wales joked that her youngest son’s secrecy was “quite good for a six-year-old”
Kate Middleton says that her son Prince Louis impressively kept a secret about her Together at Christmas carol service from his sister, Princess Charlotte.
On Dec. 6, Princess Kate hosted her fourth annual Together at Christmas concert at Westminster Abbey in London, which welcomed 1,600 guests for an evening of entertainment and celebration around the themes of love and empathy. While chatting with performer Paloma Faith behind the scenes, the Princess of Wales, 42, revealed that her youngest son Prince Louis, 6, honored her wish beforehand to keep the ballet performance in the service a secret from Princess Charlotte, “who loves her ballet dancing.”
As seen in a video shared to X by Kate Mansey of The Times, the Princess of Wales’ explained that “Louis heard me talk about the dancers over tea.”
“Ballet dancers?” Faith interjected, and Princess Kate said, “Ballet dancers, exactly.”
So I said, ‘Louis, can you keep a secret? I want it to be a surprise for Charlotte, who loves her ballet dancing,’ and he said, ‘I won’t say anything!’. And he’s kept the secret, this is what, maybe two weeks? Quite good for a six-year-old!” Princess Kate said with a smile as she stood with Together at Christmas performers Faith, Olivia Dean and Gregory Porter.
“And then this morning he was like, ‘Please Mummy can I tell her? I’m bursting!’, cause i did the drop off and he really wanted to tell her,” she continued, seemingly referencing her school drop off routine with her kids Prince George, 11, Charlotte and Louis.
“I think, hopefully, he’s kept on with it. I don’t think he’s said anything,” the royal mom continued. “I asked her, just before we left, ‘Do you know what the surprise is? And she said no.”
Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are known to share a tight bond, and the young princess was in for a treat when soloists from The Royal Ballet and students from The Royal Ballet School performed during the Together at Christmas carol service on Dec. 6. Princess Kate and Prince William have both spoken about their daughter’s passion for dance through the years, and Charlotte was even seen practicing third position at one point during the night in an image shared to X.
Princess Kate spearheaded the Together at Christmas carol service with The Royal Foundation in 2021 as a way to thank those who gave back to their communities during the COVID pandemic, and it’s continued as a tradition ever since, becoming a staple on the royals’ annual calendar.
The latest iteration of Together at Christmas was especially meaningful as it marked Princess Kate’s most major event since she shared on Sept. 9 that she completed chemotherapy. The Princess of Wales announced in March that she was undergoing treatment for cancer and reduced her royal duties for most of the year to focus on her health.
In a rare reflection behind the scenes that night, Princess Kate also said in conversation with Faith, “I didn’t know this year was going to be the year that I’ve just had.”
“The unplanned,” said the singer.
“The unplanned, exactly,” the Princess of Wales repeated with a nod. “But I think lots of people this year have had such challenging times, and many who are here today.”
Princess Kate may have been thinking of the families and survivors from Southport invited to Together at Christmas this year, underscoring support for the community grieving in the wake of mass stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in July, in which three children were killed and 10 others, including eight children, were injured.
In addition to the tradition of inviting individuals who gave back to their communities in outstanding ways, Kensington Palace announced that the carol service guests would also include some experienced difficult times this year.
