She met a few royal fans who were cancer survivors during the outing.
With a series of tough months behind her, Kate Middleton took time during the British royal family’s annual Christmas walk at Sandringham to express her gratitude for royal fans’s emotional support during her cancer journey through the past year.
In video obtained by The Daily Mail, the Princess of Wales spoke with fans that gathered to see the rest of the royal family, and encountered a few individuals who have had their own difficult experiences with cancer at some point in their lives.
A woman who had worked for Macmillan Cancer Support told Middleton, “I just wanted to say you are an inspiration to all the patients,“ to which the princess replied, “The amount of people who have written this year is extraordinary and I think cancer just really does resonate with so many families. People like you are doing all the hard work out there. I’m hugely grateful.”
Another woman in the crowd added, “We’re all behind you, never forget that,” and Middleton sweetly replied, “Thank you very much, [that’s] so kind, nice to meet you.”
According to the outlet, 73-year-old cancer patient Karen MacLean, spoke with both Middleton and King Charles during the Sandringham walk and spoke with them about her journey with the disease, which she’s said she has had for 20 years.
We just had a little talk about cancer, really,” said Ms Maclean. “I’ve met the King before. He said to me ‘I can remember you’, I’m thinking ‘What! like many years ago?'” As for how Middleton and Charles appeared to be doing during the event, MacLean said the pair seemed “very well actually, considering what they’re going through.”
