Breaking News: Harry and Meghan’s Netflix deal ‘in question’ as streaming giant ‘weighs value….See More

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s £80million Netflix deal is up for renewal later this year, but TV insiders have suggested that the streaming giant is unsure whether to continue with the Montecito couple
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix contract renewal – which an insider has described as “absolutely pivotal” – is under review, with industry sources suggesting the streaming platform is questioning whether the couple offers sufficient “value for money.” The Sussexes secured a $103 million deal with Netflix in 2020 after stepping down from their royal roles.
Since then, they’ve produced five projects: Harry & Meghan, Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus, Polo, and Love, Meghan. However, aside from their high-profile docuseries and Meghan’s lifestyle series – which has struggled with ratings – their content hasn’t performed well, failing to make the Top 10.
With their agreement set to expire in 2025, insiders indicate that Netflix, whose insider recently described the ‘real’ Meghan, will face a difficult choice regarding their future collaboration with the couple.
A TV insider told The Sun: “Netflix have been broadly pleased with the show and don’t care if the reviews are scathing. The streamer’s name has been on everyone’s lips for the past week and that’s a victory for them.
But it’s now a question of whether they feel that striking another deal represents value for money, or if they feel that they have explored all the opportunities they can with the couple.”
Love, Meghan has faced significant criticism, despite being greenlit for a second season, which is set to release this fall.
Neither Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, nor Netflix have addressed whether the deal will be extended. However, last month, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria, said she is “excited” for future projects from the couple.
In an interview with the Mail prior to the launch of the Duchess’s show, Ms. Bajaria stated that Netflix would continue to support Harry and Meghan, and she predicted that the Duchess’s new series would be a huge success.
Bajaria said: She said: “We have Meghan’s new show coming out, which is great.
“It is such a great take on a lifestyle show and showcase for California, Montecito and nature. It really has great takeaways.
“I was like ‘oh my God, I want to really do that pasta.’ There’s really easy great takeaways on life. I am really excited about that coming out.”
