Gene Hackman’s nephew Tim has spoken out on the tragic death of the legendary actor and his wife Betsy Arakawa for the first time
Gene Hackman’s nephew has broken his silence about the tragic death of the legendary actor.
The entertainment world was left reeling after news surfaced of The Unforgiven star, his wife Betsy Arakawa, and their dog being discovered deceased in their residence in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The film community mourned profoundly, with Morgan Freeman delivering a poignant homage to his Oscar-winning peer at the 97th Oscars ceremony.
Despite a thorough investigation by the gas authorities revealing no telltale signs of leaks or carbon monoxide poisoning within the home, the mystery continues.
But Tim insisted, “We’re waiting on toxicology. That will tell us everything.”
Sharing his sentiments with Us Weekly, Tim expressed his aversion to unfounded conjecture, saying, “It’s hard to theorize. There are lots of theories out there and I don’t want to speculate. It’s easy to speculate negative theories.”
The Hackman family is no stranger to the limelight as Tim’s father, Richard Hackman, had doubled for Gene as a stuntman, reports the Irish Star.
As the actor’s loved ones continue mourning, Tim added, “The family wants to keep it positive for now and when we know the truth we will deal with it.”
The couple was found in a state of mummification inside their lavish $3.8 million Sante Fe home, alongside one of their three dogs, named Zinna. The celebrated actor was aged 95, while Arakawa was 65 at the time of their deaths.
The dog that tragically passed away was discovered in a crate approximately 10 to 15 feet from Arakawa’s body when the couple was found on February 26, officials reported.
There were also concerns about the wellbeing of his two surviving dogs but a recent update has reassured fans that they are “safe and adjusting”.
Family friend Joey Padilla, who owns Santa Fe Tails where Gene and Betsy frequently boarded their dogs, revealed he is currently caring for the two surviving dogs.
Joey told ABC News, “They are safe and adjusting. I will be holding on to them until I get word on what Betsy’s wishes for these dogs are. Gene and Betsy were amazing friends and dog lovers.”
