Donald Trump has confirmed that he will be in attendance for Super Bowl LIX this weekend, as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans.

Donald Trump is set to attend Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans this weekend.

The 47th president had not confirmed whether he would be watching the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome, but he will very much be among the 76,500 spectators inside the versatile venue on Sunday.

Despite just starting his second term in the White House and ongoing discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau about pausing tariffs on the country, there were doubts about Trump’s attendance at the NFL’s season finale.

However, a White House official has confirmed that Trump is expected to attend the Super Bowl this weekend, marking the first sporting event he will attend since being re-elected as president.

This won’t be the first Super Bowl for the 78-year-old; Trump was present for Super Bowl XXVI between the Washington Redskins and the Buffalo Bills at the Metrodome on January 26, 1992 in Minneapolis. This time, it will be Kansas City and Philadelphia vying for the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy, with the occasion potentially being slightly bigger for the former as they aim for an unprecedented feat in the NFL.

The Kansas City Chiefs, after clinching their last two Super Bowls, are now on the cusp of making history with a potential three-peat. With an outstanding 17-2 record this season, they enter the game as heavy favorites.

Having already secured the AFC West title and the conference championship, Coach Andy Reid’s team is now eyeing one more crown to add to their collection. In a historic turn, President Trump will be in the stands, marking the first time a president has attended the Super Bowl since 2002.

However, this isn’t his first NFL outing this season, as he previously watched the New York Jets face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers in October.
