The Duchess of Sussex found it “easy” to postpone her new Netflix show, according to an insider.
Meghan Markle had no trouble deciding to postpone her highly anticipated Netflix show amid the latest fire catastrophe in California, an insider has claimed
The Duchess of Sussex’s latest project for the streaming giant, With Love, Meghan, was due to hit the screens on January 15.
However, due to the raging wildfires in Los Angeles, the show has been postponed until March 4.
Meghan said in a statement: “I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California.”
The duchess may now reside in Montecito, California, however, she was born and raised in Los Angeles, which is some 90 miles away.
While the decision behind the delay of her show and its motives was questioned by several royal watchers, an industry insider claimed it was an “easy decision” for Meghan, who has “genuine concern” for her hometown and those affected.
They told People: “Delaying the release of With Love, Meghan was likely an easy decision for her.
I don’t think she could imagine putting out a show centred on joy and hosting when so many people in her home state no longer have homes to host people in.
“I think it’s sad that critics are saying she’s only doing this to avoid the fires overshadowing her show. We’re all human, and we’re dealing with a catastrophe.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been active in their efforts to support those affected by volunteering in Los Angeles earlier this week themselves, donating to charities and urging people to help through a statement.
Harry and Meghan have asked people to “open their homes” to those evacuated and “check in” on any of their “disabled or elderly neighbours”.
The statement also included a list of fire service charities, animal groups, and other initiatives to support those affected.
