Joy Behar And Alyssa Farah Griffin Spar Over Healthcare On ‘The View’: “Obamacare Ain’t Perfect….See More
The View wasted no time condemning the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on this morning’s show after he was gunned down in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday (Dec. 4) by an unidentified suspect who is still at large. While the ladies were all in agreement that the violence was horrifying, they still didn’t see eye-to-eye on the United States healthcare system.
In particular, liberal-leaning Joy Behar and conservative panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin argued over the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, which improved access and affordability of healthcare after being signed into law in 2010.
After Griffin said “violence is absolutely never the answer” to solving issues like frustrations with the healthcare system, Behar offered her own tip: “And I would add, don’t vote for Republicans,” she said.
Behar claimed, “They want to overthrow Obamacare, they have no interest at all in this particular—” but Griffin cut in to protest, “Respectfully, we complain about our healthcare right now. We are living under Obamacare.”
Griffin continued, “Obamacare ain’t perfect, either. It actually created monopolies in the healthcare system.”
Sunny Hostin, who had been listening to the back-and-forth, chimed in to tell Griffin, “It’s the only thing that’s come closest to universal healthcare,” as Behar agreed, “We have nothing better.”
Hostin then turned to one of her favorite topics on The View, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.‘s “brain worm,” or the parasite that partially ate his brain.
“My fear also when I was reading about this story is that we’re gonna have RFK Jr. responsible for health and human services, who has a brain worm,” Hostin said, as Sara Haines jumped in with her own “legal note” to claim that the worm was gone. However, Hostin told her, “No, I think it got encapsulated in his brain. I went down a rabbit hole on that.”
