Queen Mary and Princess Kate have often been noted in their fashion choices

Queen Mary of Denmark attended an awards ceremony in Copenhagen on Tuesday, wearing pieces linked to Princess Kate’s wedding dress.

Princess Kate’s iconic wedding dress was designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, a brand the Princess of Wales often showcases.

Mary, 53, presented the EliteForsk awards 2025 at the Black Diamond in the capital where she wore a burgundy skirt from the British fashion label.

The Danish royal paired her McQueen skirt with a rosy-pink blouse from The Fold, featuring long sleeves and a wrap-style front.

She completed the chic ensemble with matching burgundy suede boots and accessorised with custom rose-quartz earrings from Dulong Fine Jewelry.

The similarities between Queen Mary and Princess Kate have often been noted in their fashion choices.

Both royals favour designers including Emilia Wickstead, Erdem and Jenny Packham and share professional interests, particularly in the early years sector.

The pair have met previously, with Kate visiting Mary in Copenhagen in 2022.

Their similar style extends beyond clothing to their signature bouncy blow-dry hairstyles.

The Princess has turned to the fashion house for many significant moments throughout her royal life.

Kate’s wedding dress designer, Sarah Burton, left McQueen after 13 years in September 2024 and has since become creative director for French fashion house Givenchy.

However the Princess of Wales continues to wear the brand.

The Princess of Wales is set to join her husband to visit Pontypridd in South Wales on February 26 ahead of St David’s Day celebrations on March 1.

The royal couple, who recently returned from a family holiday in the Caribbean, will meet with local community members who were affected by severe flooding that hit the town during Storms Bert and Darragh in December 2024.

Their visit will include stops at the historic Pontypridd Market and the Meadow Street Community Garden and Woodland.
