Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes debuted his new haircut on a date night with Brittany Mahomes to watch the Houston Cougars play the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Feb. 24 in Lubbock, Texas.

Patrick Mahomes is kicking off the off-season with a brand new haircut.

During a Feb. 24 date night with wife Brittany Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback took to the sidelines to watch some college basketball. And while at the Houston vs. Texas Tech game, Patrick was spotted with a fresh haircut—much shorter than what fans have seen on the field.

Patrick initially wanted an even more dramatic cut, telling his barber DeJuan Bonds at a recent hair appointment to give him a buzzcut, but DeJuan wasn’t about to let Patrick make any rash decisions.

The whole time that I’ve been cutting his hair, he just lets me do what I do,” DeJuan told Us Weekly in an interview published on Feb. 25. “But when he asked for a change, he basically was like, ‘Just cut me all off.’”

“I was like, ‘No, no, no. We’re not just going to cut it all off,’” DeJuan continued. “We’re actually going to collab on this and go a little bit at a time, take it a little bit down. We kind of came to a common ground like, ‘OK, this is the cut, this is the cut, this is the length.’ It was a collaboration on this last one.”

Patrick, 29, initially debuted his new ‘do a week prior outside a funeral service for his grandfather. However, the NCAA game—where Patrick supported his Alma Mater, Texas Tech—was the first time he made a public appearance with his fresh cut.

But for DeJuan—whose clients also include Patrick’s teammates George Karlaftis, Trent McDuffie and Skyy Moore—he applauds Patrick not only for his style sense but also for his continued humbleness, even through multiple Super Bowl rings.

He is definitely one of the most humble athletes I’ve run across,” DeJuan said. “I’ve been dealing with athletes for probably 20 years. I don’t know why he’s so humble, I really don’t. He’s special. That’s just who he is. I’ve run across the entitled ones and the arrogant ones. And then I run across Patrick.”
