Update: Philadelphia Eagles reportedly snub White House visit following Super Bowl win and President Donald Trump’s response heats up political climate…..Read More

The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly declined an invitation to the White House following their victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. This decision has ignited backlash from supporters of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement. The team’s choice not to visit the nation’s capital has sparked a political conversation, drawing parallels to previous controversies involving the Eagles and former President Donald Trump.
Philadelphia Eagles Reportedly Snub White House Visit After Super Bowl Win, Sparking MAGA Backlash
According to a report from the U.S. Sun, the Eagles collectively decided not to attend the White House visit, which is traditionally extended to Super Bowl champions. Lane Johnson, the team’s captain, had previously mentioned that while it would be an honor to go, the final decision would be determined through a team vote. It appears that the players reached a consensus, as insiders revealed that the response was a “massive no” when asked if they would accept the invitation.
The Eagles’ victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, with a commanding 40-22 scoreline at Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans, positioned them for a potential White House invitation. However, the U.S. Sun reported that internal discussions had already occurred about skipping the visit. “A source at the Eagles, who spoke anonymously, stressed that conversations about refusing a visit with President Donald Trump after beating the Kansas City Chiefs have already occurred,” the outlet stated.
An insider familiar with the team’s discussions disclosed that both the players and the Eagles front office were involved in the decision-making process. The verdict was clear, with a unanimous agreement not to make the trip to Washington, D.C. This stance appears consistent with the team’s history, as back in 2018, after winning Super Bowl LII against the New England Patriots, several Eagles players opted to skip the White House visit. In response, then-President Trump rescinded the invitation and held a “celebration of America” instead, stating, “The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow,” Trump said in a statement in 2018. “They disagree
with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country. The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better.”
The White House of President Trump, however, has responded to the rumor that the Eagles will not be attending the Monday morning visit. The White House under President Trump seems to be adopting the “you can’t fire me, I quit!” tactic.
The Eagles and the White House making the same move in 2025 wouldn’t be shocking. Although the Philadelphia Eagles have not yet publicly responded to the rumored decision to turn down the White House invitation, the team or specific players may do so in the future.
