One of the Sussex kids could be overheard in Duchess Meghan’s new Instagram post

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet may be descended from British royalty, but make no mistake—they’re also all-American kids through and through

That much is evident by their American accents, as could be overheard in Duchess Meghan’s latest Instagram Story. Sharing a series of vignettes from her low-key weekend at home in Montecito, Meghan shared a sweet video of herself spending time with one of her kids in the garden. The clip showed Meghan spraying water on a patch of shrubbery and flowers in her backyard, before asking either Archie, five, or Lilibet, three, if they want to help her water the plants. “Only if you want me [to],” the little one replies. Meghan then passes the garden hose to her child, who takes the nozzle and expertly sprays the water out with their index finger.

Since Meghan launched her new Instagram account last month, Archie and Lilibet have made occasional cameos on the platform. The two appeared in a video montage dedicated to the family’s beloved pet beagle, Guy, who recently passed away. The end of the montage featured another rare listen at the Sussex kids’ voice, with one of the kids singing a song for Guy. On Valentine’s Day, Meghan posted videos from the family’s intimate holiday plans, which included decorating red bagels with pink frosting and heart-shaped strawberries. The clips, while omitting the children’s faces, showed their little hands hard at work in the kitchen.

Meghan recently shed some insight on day-to-day family life at home with Archie, Lilibet, and husband Prince Harry. “With families…the big rush in the morning and getting ready for school and packing the lunchboxes and making breakfast and my husband is in all of that with all of us,” Meghan said at the 2025 Invictus Games. “And then he’ll be on his phone, and Archie will say, ‘Papa, why are you on your phone?’ and he’s like, ‘Because it’s Invictus, I’m getting ready for Invictus.’”
