Harry and Meghan have kept the privacy of their kids paramount

For years, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have maintained a strict stance on protecting their children’s privacy, keeping Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet largely out of the public eye.

However, Meghan’s recent social media activity suggests a potential shift in strategy. As glimpses of their children become more frequent, experts are questioning whether this move could invite unwanted media attention-and even pose risks to their privacy.

Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, the Sussexes have taken a cautious approach in sharing details about their children. Aside from a few official photos, such as those included in their Netflix documentary and previous Christmas cards, Archie and Lilibet have remained out of the public spotlight.

However, Meghan’s new Instagram account, launched in January, has marked a subtle change. Recently, a video of Meghan baking Valentine-themed strawberry bagels with her children was shared online, providing rare glimpses of their lives.

Additionally, a photo of Meghan running hand-in-hand with Lilibet in a picturesque field is now featured on the website for her new lifestyle brand, As Ever.

Notably, these images are carefully curated-strategic angles prevent full views of the children’s faces-suggesting that Meghan and Harry are still hesitant to fully reveal them to the public.

Royal expert Jennie Bond believes this approach is intentional but could lead to further exposure.

“They are clearly very protective of their children, and I think much of that stems from Harry’s own experience growing up in the royal spotlight,” she told The Mirror. “But glimpses like these only make people more curious, which in turn makes any content they appear in even more valuable.”

The Growing Risk of Paparazzi Intrusion
While the Sussexes may believe they are controlling the narrative, experts warn that limiting access to their children while simultaneously offering small glimpses could increase media interest. Bond suggests that if Harry and Meghan continue withholding full images, it could prompt paparazzi to pursue unauthorized photos.

“Sooner or later, they are bound to release full pictures of the children,” Bond stated. “If they don’t, there’s a real risk that paparazzi will go to extreme lengths to capture them in public, hoping to sell exclusive images.”

The potential risks of this approach have already been highlighted. In 2024, the Sussexes’ Christmas card featured a rare moment of Archie and Lilibet running toward their parents, accompanied by their family dogs.

This was a notable departure from previous years when they opted to keep their children out of the holiday greeting altogether.

Balancing Privacy and Public Curiosity
Despite these recent glimpses, those close to the Sussexes insist that Harry remains dedicated to protecting his children from media intrusion. A friend of the couple previously told People:

Harry has been reluctant to show his children publicly, not because he wants to hide them, but to ensure their safety. He wants them to have as normal a life as possible without concerns about security threats.”

The same source also noted that Harry remains deeply affected by the events surrounding his mother, Princess Diana’s, passing, and is determined to prevent similar media harassment from affecting his family.
