Breaking: Jake Paul shocks fans by identifying his ‘next opponent’ after dominating Mike Tyson….Read More
Paul’s fight with Tyson continues to polarize the sports world
Jake Paul continues to bask in the glow of defeating Mike Tyson in a highly-publicized and historic bout back on Nov. 15. Though reactions to the fight have been sharply divided, Paul’s victory by unanimous decision has placed him rarefied air — he is one of only six men in history to win a bout over “Iron Mike”.
Undoubtedly, Paul’s age was a decisive factor in his win over Tyson. At 27 years old, Paul was able to move quicker and land more than twice as many punches as the 58-year-old Tyson — who had not taken part in a professional fight since 2005. Most of the criticism Paul continues to face for agreeing to fight Tyson centers on that very basic fact: the “Problem Child” is 31 years younger than the former “Baddest Man on the Planet”.
Paul pokes fun at the discourse with a new “plan”
As someone who is “online” nearly all the time, Paul is aware of the narrative that surrounds his victory over Tyson. But rather than continuing to feed the trolls, Paul has adopted a novel approach: neutralize them instead.
In response to a post on X/Twitter, Paul revealed that he has picked his “next opponent”: a 392-year-old Greenland shark discovered swimming around the Arctic Ocean.
Paul reportedly made $40 million for fighting Tyson; the former YouTube and Disney Channel star already had a net worth estimated at $80 million before he stepped into the ring at AT&T Stadium. His media empire continues to expand, independently of his brother Logan, who hosts the highly-popular “imPAULsive” podcast.
However, some in boxing will probably express fresh concern over Paul’s post. They can make the claim that Paul “is not going to change” and will continue to chase opponents who are more frail than he is, instead of fighting a premium boxer such as Canelo Alvarez.
