Breaking News: Eagles stars to hold team vote on Donald Trump White House visit….See More

The Philadelphia Eagles will vote on whether to attend a White House ceremony following their Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Following their triumphant win in Super Bowl LIX over the Kansas City Chiefs, the Philadelphia Eagles are debating on whether to accept an invitation to the White House to meet President Donald Trump.
The team’s stunning performance led to a dominant 40-22 victory over the Chiefs in New Orleans, derailing Kansas City’s quest for an NFL three-peat as superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes faltered under the spotlight. It’s customary for the victors of major American sports leagues—including the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL—to be celebrated with a ceremonial visit to the White House.
However, when the Eagles claimed the Vince Lombardi Trophy in 2018, their planned White House visit was scrapped due to dissent regarding expectations during the national anthem. In that instance, after internal dialogues over how the team should approach the meeting, only a small feaction of the team went, excluding most players and staff.
Facing another opportunity seven years later, history may repeat itself for Trump. Eagles’ team captain Lane Johnson announced that a vote by the players will determine their course of action.
I’d be honored to go, regardless of who the President is, but we’ll see. It’s ultimately a team decision. I’ll do what’s best for the team,” Johnson said regarding the potential White House ceremony.
Trump became the first sitting President to attend a Super Bowl, where he made a bold prediction of a Chiefs three-peat victory. However, his forecast was proven wrong as the Eagles dominated the game, leading 34-0 by the third quarter, prompting Trump to leave before the final quarter.
