As Taylor Swift prepares to support Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs against the Philadelphia Eagles in their third consecutive Super Bowl, revisit her prior allegiance for Philly’s team.

Before Taylor Swift declared that “Karma” was the guy on the Chiefs, she bled green.

Although the 14-time Grammy winner will undoubtedly don red to support boyfriend Travis Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs at the Super Bowl Feb. 9, she has a history of pride for his opponent, the Philadelphia Eagles. After all, the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIX rival was once her hometown team.

Indeed, Taylor hails from Reading, Pennsylvania, a city just an hour outside of the Eagles’ turf of Philadelphia. And while the 35-year-old and her family—including parents Scott Swift and Andrea Swift and brother Austin Swift—moved to Nashville, Tennessee, when she was just 13, she has proven to look back fondly at her time as a Pennsylvania.

In fact, she name-dropped the Quaker State into a host of her songs, even including a nod to its NFL team—which previously boasted Travis’ brother Jason Kelce before his 2024 retirement—on the evermore track “gold rush.”

Ironically, Taylor chooses love over allegiance for her favorite football team on the track, where she sings, “I see me padding ‘cross your wooden floors / With my Eagles t-shirt hanging from the door.”

At the time it was released, many fans speculated over whether the “gold rush” lyric referred to the football team or the “Hotel California”-singing rock band. However, the “Fortnight” singer clarified its meaning during her stop in Philadelphia in 2023, just months before she started dating Travis.

“I did see the debate about how a lyric that says ‘with my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door’ I saw some people wondering if it was the band Eagles or the team the Eagles,” Taylor said during a May 12 Eras Tour show. “And I love the band the Eagles, but guys, like come on. I’m from Philly. Of course it’s the team.”

A month later, Taylor confirmed her allegiance to the Birds once more, donning a green baseball cap and Eagles sweatshirt on her way into Electric Lady Studios in New York City.

Of course, Taylor inherited her love for the Philly-based team from her dad—and he began singing a different tune once his daughter’s relationship with the Chiefs tight end went public.

“I’m a football fan—of all teams,” Scott diplomatically told a paparazzo at LAX before last year’s Super Bowl per Page Six, cheekily adding of the Chiefs’ head coach, “Andy Reid used to coach the Eagles.”

As for this year? Travis is sure of his girlfriend’s support, but the jury is still out on Scott.

“I don’t know her to have the [Eagles] fandom, I know her father as an Eagles fan,” Travis told a reporter at a press conference Feb. 3. “She’ll be all for the Chiefs this time for sure. I’ll have to ask Scott himself. We haven’t had that conversation yet, but I think he’ll be wearing red.”
