Royal Commentator Says Meghan Is ‘Poking the Bear’ and Daring Prince William to Strip Her Duchess Title

Surprise, surprise, Meghan Markle has caused a stir and ruffled feathers at the Palace recently for doing something the royals didn’t see coming.

More than five years after she and Prince Harry stepped down as working members of the royal family and made an agreement with Queen Elizabeth II that they would no longer use their His/Her Royal Highness titles, the duchess shared a message on Instagram addressing her as such.

The letter Meghan shared was from Ukraine’s vice president and began, “Your Royal Highness, I would like to express my sincere thanks for everything your family is doing for Ukraine” following Prince Harry’s brief visit to the country.

The duchess’s choice to publicly share the letter with that banned title has raised plenty of eyebrows, and sources say no one at the Palace is pleased, especially Prince William. Some now believe Meghan is daring her brother-in-law to take away their titles once and for all.

According to a courtier who spoke to Radar Online, while King Charles has no plans to strip Harry and Meghan of their Sussex titles he will allow his eldest to do it, but not until William takes the throne himself. In other words, it won’t be done as long as Charles is alive.

As to why the king won’t remove Harry and Meghan’s Sussex titles, the courtier said the monarch is “cowardly” and too concerned about any damage it would cause to his reputation and backlash from the couple’s supporters.

“The king was especially stung by Harry labeling him an emotionally cold father in his scathing memoir, Spare,” the Palace insider said. “But the monarch is very concerned about his image and fears backlash from his subjects. That’s why he’d never dare take away Harry’s Sussex title–despite all the hurt he’s caused.”

“Behind the scenes, people are saying that the royals have quietly sanctioned the title removal–if Harry and Meghan step out of line again. The removal would require an Act of Parliament. But those in the know say the Palace has already called several secret meetings to discuss the possibility and put an actionable plan in place.”
