Just In: King Charles’ anti-inflammatory diet includes ‘obsession’ with certain superfood….. See More

King Charles has long been a proponent of organic living, with his diet thought to be a key part of his approach to health. And it seems the King has a particular obsession with one anti-inflammatory superfood
The nation’s interest in anti-inflammatory foods has skyrocketed, with many Brits looking to their diets to combat inflammation and boost health and longevity. It turns out King Charles has been ahead of the curve for years, according to former Royal chefs who’ve dished on his preference for nutrient-rich foods that fight inflammation.
His diet, packed with organic and omega-3-laden ingredients, might just be the blueprint for ageing gracefully.
Dr. Emma Patel, speaking for Improve My Search Ranking, highlighted the importance of such a diet: “Inflammation is at the root of many chronic health conditions, including arthritis, heart disease, and cognitive decline.”
She added, “The recent surge in online searches shows that people are actively looking for ways to manage it through diet. Foods like mushrooms, oily fish, and green tea have strong anti-inflammatory properties that can help protect the body from long-term damage.”
Among the anti-inflammatory superfoods that King Charles reportedly swears by are wild mushrooms. The monarch’s fondness for fungi is no secret; Queen Camilla’s son Tom Parker-Bowles even noted in his book ‘Cooking and the Crown’ that wild mushrooms are “somewhat of an obsession” for both his mother and stepfather, leading to some friendly competition over their foraging finds, reports Surrey Live.
Former Royal chef Darren McGrady has recently divulged some of the dietary preferences of King Charles, highlighting his fondness for wild mushroom risotto paired with organic lamb. The King has a particular interest in foraging and would frequently take his chefs to explore his Royal estates in search of top-notch mushrooms.
McGrady revealed: “He loves wild mushrooms and would take his chefs to Balmoral to show them where the best mushrooms are. We brought them back to Buckingham Palace and they were the most amazing porcini mushrooms.
Mushrooms being rich in ergothioneine, offer strong antioxidant properties that counter cell damage and curb inflammation, aligning perfectly with anti-inflammatory diets. While not a staple at every meal, King Charles does appreciate oily fish like salmon and mackerel, treasuring their omega-3 fatty acids for heart health, cognitive function, and joint mobility.
Nevertheless, his eating habits reflect moderation as he shared with the BBC: “For years, I haven’t eaten meat and fish on two days a week, and I don’t eat dairy products on one day a week.”
