Meghan Markle has made her feelings clear about the postponement of her Netflix series as she focusses on “dealing with a catastrophe”, according to an insider.

The original release date for the new series, titled ‘With Love, Meghan’, was scheduled for Wednesday, January 15.

However, the Duchess of Sussex and Netflix postponed its release until March 4 due to the ongoing wildfire crisis in California, Meghan’s home state.

Meghan is focussing on helping Los Angeles residents as the wildfires continue to rage within the city.

A source told PEOPLE: “Delaying the release of With Love, Meghan was likely an easy decision for her.

“I don’t think she could imagine putting out a show centered on joy and hosting when so many people in her home state no longer have homes to host people in.

“I think it’s sad that critics are saying she’s only doing this to avoid the fires overshadowing her show. We’re all human, and we’re dealing with a catastrophe.”

On Tuesday, it was reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle face potential evacuation from their £23 million Montecito mansion as the devastating wildfires sweep through Southern California.

The couple’s affluent neighbourhood had been placed under a red flag warning amid fears of explosive fire growth across the region.

The warning came just days after Harry and Meghan opened their doors to friends and loved ones fleeing the fires.

The Duke and Duchess have shown support for fire victims through their Archewell Foundation, making donations to relief efforts.

The couple recently served meals to survivors alongside the wife of Governor Gavin Newsom.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle hit out at the disapproval of their Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts, with sources close to the couple calling the criticism “offensive”.

Former “Family Ties” star Jane Bateman labelled the couple “disaster tourists” after they were photographed distributing food and supplies to victims outside the Pasadena Convention Center.

“It’s offensive to Meghan and Harry that anybody would think this is merely a photo opportunity,” a source told Page Six.

The source emphasised that Meghan, who was born and raised in Los Angeles, considers the city “home” and is heartbroken over the devastation.

The source added: “They have dedicated countless hours to volunteering, long before the media even caught wind of their involvement.”
