Prince Harry and Meghan Markle step out to support fire victims following heartbreaking plea

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have stepped out to support victims affected by the Eaton Fire in California, where they served meals and connected with affected families and elderly individuals.

The Sussexes donated essential supplies, including clothing and children’s items, to aid the victims of the deadly fires during their unannounced visit to the Pasadena community on January 10.

The Eaton Fire is the second-largest fire that has ravaged Southern California this week and is still burning after three days, destroying 15,000 acres.

The couple, based about 90 miles north of the Los Angeles area, have focused on discreetly supporting wildfire relief efforts, experiencing strong community spirits and hearing harrowing stories, according to sources.

Later, they met the founder of World Central Kitchen, José Andrés, at the food stations to praise relief teams.

They’ve also contributed monetary donations through their Archewell Foundation and plan to continue supporting recovery and rebuilding efforts with future visits.

The pair were joined by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom, according to Sources.

They also visited the Pasadena Rose Bowl, where they met and thanked Fire Chief Marrone and his team from the LA County Fire Department and members of CalFire and the Pasadena Police Force.

Prince Harry wore chinos and a polo shirt, while Meghan wore a pair of black jeans and a blue chambray shirt.

Both royals wore N95 masks.

It follows Prince Harry and Meghan Markle opening up their £23 million Montecito mansion to friends and loved ones forced to evacuate from devastating southern California wildfires, something the couple urged other Los Angeles residents to follow.

In a statement from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex encouraged people to donate to the American Royal Cross and urged the public to open their homes to a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate.

The statement read: “In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighbourhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centres, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life.”

The statement referenced the state of emergency that was declared in the area and provided “resources and ideas” to help.

It added: “Be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbours to see if they need help evacuating. Some families and people have been left with nothing. Please consider donating clothing, children’s toys & clothing, and other essentials. The American Red Cross is on the ground helping those in need.”
