Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new multimillionaire lifestyle in California could be “plagued” by the noise pollution of Elon Musk’s SpaceX projects.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s tranquil life in their Californian neighborhood is being “plagued” sonic booms, courtesy of Elon Musk’s SpaceX ventures.

The Royal couple, who bid farewell to the UK for a sprawling 13-bedroom estate in Montecito’s gated community in 2020, enjoy a lavish $14million residence equipped with a spa, pool, wine cellar, and cinema—a seemingly perfect retreat for family life in the U.S’s most populace state.

However, not all is peaceful in the upscale enclave.

A local who lives nearby vented on an online forum about the noise disturbances from the billionaire’s aerospace company.

The Daily Mail notes that SpaceX frequently launches from its Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB) in California, where it has two launchpads, including one acquired from the United States Space Force in 2023 for Falcon 9 rocket launches later this year, with Falcon Heavy to follow.

The exasperated resident exclaimed: “Enough! Let’s stop the disruptive arrogant sonic booms at night! This insane frequency and quantity needs regulation, it’s just terrible. I could hear the house creaking.”

Over 1,300 individuals are rallying against SpaceX’s plans to ramp up its launch frequency from 36 to 50 times a year, signing a petition that voices their concerns.

The petition highlights: “The booms from rocket launches disrupt sleep patterns, elevates stress levels, and erode the overall quality of life for residents living near launch sites. Sensitive wildlife may also be disoriented by these sudden, intense sounds.”

A local resident, clearly agitated by the disturbances, called for better communication, saying: “The unexpected, sporadic, frequent booms at all hours completely disrupt our household and our peace of mind. Everyone in the house – including all humans and pets – reacts with anxiousness and fear every time.”

Established in 1941, Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB) is situated about 60 miles from the upscale Montecito neighborhood. According to the Change.org petition, most signatories are from Santa Barbara and other parts of California.

Montecito isn’t just the chosen locale for Prince Harry and Meghan; it’s also where stars like Oprah Winfrey, Rob Lowe, and Gwyneth Paltrow have made their homes.
