Calls were made after Prince Andrew was caught in yet another scandal

Biographer Andrew Lownie has called for more parliamentary scrutiny of royal finances.

Lownie has intensified criticism of the British royal family since Prince Andrew was linked to an alleged Chinse spy.

He also questioned the family’s silence on visits Andrew has undertaken as the senior member of the firm.

“These were trips paid by the taxpayer. We need to know who accompanied Andrew and why?,” he said on X.

Anti-monarchists have praised Andrew Lownie on social media for calling for more scrutiny of the royal family.

King Charles has been facing challenges on many fronts since he ascended to the throne after her mother Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

Apart from his own health issue, the monarch has been trying to protect his family from criticism as his younger son Prince Harry and Prince Andrew continue to pose challenges one after another.

While Harry has publicly criticized the royal family for how his wife Meghan Markle was treated, Andrew has caused embarrassment to the the king by getting involved in a couple of scandals in the past few years.
