Patrick Mahomes receives tremendous praise from a three-time champion for his “unique” skills and compares him to Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani

Patrick Mahomes is playing his ninth year with the Kansas City Chiefs and in the NFL. In less than a decade, the 30-year-old QB has won five AFC titles, three Super Bowl rings, three Super Bowl MVPs, and two NFL MVPs.In pursuit of his third MVP and fourth Vince Lombardi Trophy, Pat receives praise from a three-time champion. After a difficult start to the season, the Chiefs secured their third consecutive victory on Monday, defeating the Washington Commanders 28-7 at Arrowhead Stadium and improving their record to 5-3.

Mahomes shone with 73.5% of passes completed, 299 passing yards, and three touchdowns. He leads the league in passing touchdowns (17) and ranks second with 2,099 passing yards, surpassed only by Justin Herbert with 2,140.However, Steve Young highlighted another aspect of Patrick. On Dan Patrick’s show, he was asked to pick an NFL player equivalent to MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter and pitcher Shohei Ohtani. Without hesitation, he mentioned Mahomes:”He’s smart, he’s been around a long time. He is a sophisticated passer from the pocket, which allows him to get the most out of every play,” Young said.

The help on defense allowed Patrick to showcase his talent and an obvious improvement in his accuracy, but for the former 49ers player, what sets the Chiefs quarterback apart is a “unique” ability to create and capitalize on opportunities:”When you get the most out of every play, then you know when the play is dead, when it’s done, or I don’t have a choice, I’ll go, and once I go, that’s a whole other play. It’s not a play that we call, but it’s a play that we get. And then I have another play, a third play, and I am going to run it,” Young began, adding, “He has that unique ability in his body. It’s not even live, he is gliding.”This came before the loss to the Toronto Blue Jays in which Ohtani was the starting pitcher for the Dodgers in Game 4, but he didn’t have a good outing, probably due to fatigue from Game 3. Game 5 of the World Series will be played on October 29 at 8:00 p.m. ET at Dodger Stadium.
