Haines was trying to speed across the show’s stage but ended up careening into Goldberg’s leg instead.

Whoopi Goldberg may be getting ready for the holidays, but nothing could’ve prepared her for a Sara Haines-operated go-kart rocketing straight into her leg during Wednesday’s episode of The View.

The karting carnage occurred during a seasonal holiday toy segment on the show that saw Goldberg and Haines trying out a collection of different child-friendly gadgets and gizmos, including an AI storytelling bear and Razor’s now-infamous Crazy Cart Shuffle. Haines quickly boarded the go-kart, which is operated by shuffling one’s legs back and forth, and had nearly made a complete lap around the View stage before she suddenly careened straight into Goldberg’s leg.

Goldberg visibly recoiled from the collision, almost falling over before catching herself on the toy stand in front of her. Haines also attempted to help stabilize the EGOT winner, grabbing at Goldberg’s knee as she hopped before regaining her footing.

“I’m so sorry, Whoopi!” Haines exclaimed as the audience let out a loud gasp at their crash. “I’m so sorry!”

“It’s alright, it’s alright,” Goldberg told her costar. Once the pair righted themselves and got Haines moving again, she continued, “Go, go.”

Haines appeared a bit sheepish as she emerged out the other side of the cart crash, adding, “We’ve got a casualty, you guys! I can’t drive this thing!”

Both Haines and Goldberg, thankfully, appeared to come out of their accident unscathed. They reunited after the commercial break to announce that the show’s audience would be going home with the entire collection of gifts — including the go-kart! — from the segment.

This isn’t the first time a toy has terrorized Goldberg in recent years. Last holiday season, the Sister Act star posted an Instagram video depicting her infamous run-in with a pair of dancing, talking cactuses that reiterated her every word.

I may have just made — excuse me — the biggest mistake of my life,” she said with the chaotic cactus duo placed next to her. “You see, anything you say… they just do this. Say hello. Say goodnight. Is that it? No, is that it?”
