The Eagles icon has challenged one of his former team-mates.
NFL icon Jason Kelce has opened up about his weight loss journey.
The former Philadelphia Eagles center retired from professional football last March and has since ventured into broadcasting.
He now features regularly on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown and even has his own late-night sports talk show on the channel called ‘They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce’.
But after hanging up his cleats, Kelce admitted that one of his biggest goals was to lose 35lbs.
Just one year on from his retirement, the 37-year-old has already dropped 20lbs – with help from a former team-mate.
Speaking on the latest edition of the New Heights podcast, Kelce revealed that he is competing with Beau Allen to see who can lose the most body fat.
Ahead of the challenge, he underwent a bone density scan.
Explaining his results, the ex-Eagles star said: “There is a lot of fat in there!
“It’s kind of embarrassing seeing your body broken down like this. Although, I’m not gonna lie. It’s a good calf-to-hamstring ratio, I think.
“I’m 276.6 [lbs], according to this scan…”
His brother, Travis Kelce, then interjected to say: “You’ve lost the 30 pounds? That’s crazy!”
But Jason responded: “I’ve lost 20 pounds, I was never heavier than 300 in the NFL.
Lean mass, 207 pounds of muscle. 58.7 pounds of fat… that’s a lot of fat.
“According to this metric, it is exactly 21.2 percent body fat.
He continued: “This is why you’re still playing football because when you retire you have to do stupid competitions like this to keep your sanity.
“So Beau and I are going to try to lose as much body fat percentage as possible in three months.”
The Eagles legends have devised a point system to determine the winner based on body fat percentage loss and muscle gain.
And whoever loses will have to wear a Speedo to the Ocean Drive, an event hosted every year for the Eagles Autism Foundation, this summer.
